Artist's Biography - David Barnhouse
David Barnhouse
Dave Barnhouse grew up as a country boy in rural Ohio, and spent most of his childhood in the area's one-room schoolhouse or playing outside with the farm animals he "adopted" as pets. He began showing signs of artistic ability at a very early age and found himself drawing old farm machinery and mechanical things that interested most young boys.

He is a self-taught artist working mainly with oils and focusing on Americana subjects. His style is one of loose realism with a concentration on the illumination aspects of life around us.

His paintings have a warm touch of nostalgia. "I want to make people feel as if they are back home on a Friday evening and can actually feel the warmth of a cozy fire and smell the homemade bread and cookies coming from the oven," says Barnhouse. "I want the nostalgic warm feeling of good times and close family and friends to come through."

U.S. Art magazine's 1996, 1997, and 1998 surveys of retail galleries declared Barnhouse as one of the most popular print artists in America.

Dave lives with his wife, Marie and their family, near his childhood home in Ohio.
