Artist's Biography - Marco Sassone
Marco Sassone
One of the foremost colorists working in America today, Marco Sassone is heir to the rich artistic and cultural traditions of the Renaissance city of Florence. He was born in the village of Campi Bisenzio in 1942. In 1959 he enrolled in the Instituto Superioure Galileo Galilei where he studied architectural drafting for three years. During this period he supported himself by selling watercolor sketches of Florence to tourists, many of who were Americans.

After traveling throughout Europe, Sassone moved to California. He became a regular exhibitor at the annual Festival of Arts, receiving tremendous critical acclaim. Sassone returns to Florence annually

Marco Sassone has attained international recognition with major exhibitions at the Wally Findlay Galleries in New York, Chicago, Palm Beach and Beverly Hills. He was awarded a gold medal for his work from the Italian Academy of Arts, Literature and Science, a truly prestigious honor for such a young painter. The President of Italy honored the artist with the decoration and title of "Official Knight of the Order to the merit of the Italian Republic." In the past years, Sassone's serigraphs have been shown world-wide. The list of countries includes Japapn, Canada, Singapore, Taiwan, Korea, France, The Netherlands, United States and Sassone's native Italy. Marco Sassone currently lives in San Francisco where today he continues to develop his own artistic vision.
